The doctors at Ghent Chiropractic are trained to evaluate your total health picture and will ask questions about your lifestyle and work habits during consultation. This allows us to focus not only on your pain, but on any underlying problems and causes. While the first goal is to relieve pain, the larger goal is to restore good health. Good health comes not from medication and surgery but from following the five factors of health. These are a well balanced diet, proper rest, exercise, a positive mental attitude, and most importantly a nervous system free of interference.
Each patient is carefully assessed using modern diagnostic procedures. Treatment generally focuses on spinal manipulation, also called chiropractic adjustments. Active Release Techniques, soft tissue mobilization, rehabilitative exercises and physical medicine procedures are often used to help provide relief, speed healing, improve mobility, and help restore proper function.
Initial Visit
No matter what condition has prompted you to seek chiropractic care, you can benefit from a healthy skeletal system which is moving better with a properly functioning nervous system. Ghent Chiropractic reserves special appointment times for new patients so that the doctors can have the opportunity to fully assess your condition.
- Your first visit will include:
- Paperwork (see attached links)
- Consultation to discuss your history, conditions, and answer questions
- Examination to include orthopedic, neurological, and chiropractic tests
- X-rays if deemed necessary
At the conclusion of your initial visit, our staff will assist you in scheduling a report of findings so that the doctors may review the findings of the exam and x-rays.
Report of Findings
The report of findings is also a special appointment time in order for the doctors to fully explain the findings of your evaluation and answer any questions you may have. Following your initial visit, your report of findings will include:
- Report of findings of the examination and x-rays
- Opportunity to ask questions of the doctor
- Estimated cost of care report and/or insurance coverage explanation
- First adjustment, Active Release treatment and physical medicine procedures/rehabilitation if necessary
- Scheduling of future visits
Regular Office Visits
Ghent Chiropractic is open at times which are convenient for you with early morning, mid day and evening times available. Acute patients and those in the beginning of care can often expect to receive treatment multiple times per week, while patients who are in the maintenance or wellness phase may not need to be seen as often. The recommended treatment plan is unique to each patient and is based on your condition and the goal of your care. An office visit will typically take 15-45 minutes depending upon what treatments are being performed.
Progress Examinations
As you progress through your care plan, the doctors will periodically take the time to re-evaluate your progress. The progress examination is used to make sure the health goals set by our office and yourself have either been met or are moving toward that direction.
These exams may include:
- The opportunity to discuss concerns with the doctor
- A re-exam to determine progress
- The ability to refine the care plan
- Increase or decrease of visits in care plan based upon progress
- Addition of therapy or rehabilitative exercises
- Discussion of orthotics or nutritional supplements
- Implementation of home rehabilitative exercises
Progress Report
The progress report is an opportunity for the doctors to fully explain the findings of your progress examination and answer any questions you may have. Following your progress examination, your progress report will include:
- Report of findings of the examination and any x-rays performed
- Opportunity to ask questions of the doctor
- Estimated cost of care report and/or insurance coverage explanation
- Chiropractic adjustment, Active Release treatment and physical medicine procedures/rehabilitation if necessary
- Scheduling of future visits
